Garrowby Hill Painting from David Hockney

David Hockney

The Garrowby Hill painting above came from British painter David Hockney, who you can read more about in this Blogger post. The purpose of this blog it to draw the attention of art fans to some of my favourite works of art, as well as explaining a little bit about them too, as well as discussing their artist's other work and career in general.

David Hockney studied in his early days in London at prestigious art colleges before going it alone as a professional artist, which he has remained for many decades, constantly redefining himself and his work by embracing new technologies and styles all of the time.

Where is Garrowby Hill?

Garrowby Hill lies in Yorkshire, England, and the painting illustrates the stunning scenery which you can enjoy from it. This region proved a great inspiration to the artist and was also his birth county as well. Hockney remains in the region for much of his time, spending the rest in London as well as in the United States.

The painting itself is held in the United States and has been there for much of it's life since first being created by Hockney in 1998. It was around this time that the artist started to produce more and more Yorkshire based landscape paintings and that has proved popular with his many fans in his native UK.

Hockney prints are also shown in this Pinterest page which outlines images from one particular website. Pinterest specialises in allowing people to spread images that they like amongst friends and contacts, and art is one of the most common topics there.
